Learning Outcomes

  •  To understand the differences between an Ecological or other Clerks of Works and an Environmental Clerk of Works.
  • To understand where construction sits in the development process, who is involved, the importance of contracts and how the EnvCoW can audit/assess construction.
  • To understand the importance of project documents and planning/engineering design in pollution prevention and site water management, with discussion of on-site practices, including key information to audit/assess compliance.
  • To understand good practice soil handling, management and monitoring including contamination and invasive non-native species in soils, including key information to audit/assess compliance.
  • To understand the Duty of Care, waste legislation, licences, management and monitoring with on-site practices, including key information to audit/assess compliance.
  • To understand the elements of on-site communication, reporting requirements and examples to effectively audit.
  • Identify common issues encountered on construction sites, discuss resolutions and rectifying actions, and how to deal with these as an EnvCoW.
